Bernie brings almost three decades of experience in affordable housing to Benchmark. He has worked as a tenant organizer, developer, and executive director of a supportive housing organization. Most notably, Bernie was the founding executive director of the NYS Association for Affordable Housing and started their annual conference, which is one of the largest in the country. In addition to his knowledge of the how affordable housing transactions work, he has an extensive network of connections to assist clients in getting their deals done. Bernie received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, studied urban planning at the University of North Carolina, and holds a master’s degree in theology from Fordham University.
